Presenting Cubetractor

Pull, Crush and Build!

We're excited because our first game is going to be out soon!

Cubetractor has won the Best Game Award in the Independent Games Festival China 2012!

So we wanted to try something different and we thought, "how about a Tower Attack instead of a Tower Defense?" And by that we didn't mean a reverse tower defense, where you sent out minions through a gauntlet. Rather, we were thinking more along the lines of -- what about building turrets in order to attack enemy turrets?

That formed the premise for everything else. The next step then, being the sort of players who enjoy the older console games that demanded dexterity and quick reflexes, was to bring in the player's character into the game world and have him run around, dodging enemy fire while trying to build his tower set up.

And that's what we sort of ended up with.

The game does get pretty hard for a good number of casual players, despite its light-hearted appearance. But you know what -- on the bright side if you were such a player, and if you didn't give up, you'd find you'd be able to appreciate a lot more of the intense neo-retro sort of action games, particularly top-down shooters (you can see our take on the bullet hell experience on a small scale here).

If you're into frantic, multi-tasking stuff where you need to plan your approach and find the most effecient ways to engage, you'd find this up your alley. Cubetractor is challenging -- you'll have to dodge enemy fire while constructing the right structures to overwhelm your targets. It gets excitingly hectic in the later levels.
